I'm actually a big fan of this because I think it's as good as the original tiller to really dig into the dirt and break up the soil. Which, of course, you need to do if you want your plants to grow well.

One way we've found that the mantis tiller works well is if you actually pull it backwards. What I mean is that if you take the time to walk it forward and really dig it into the soil, then you can push down easier while pulling it backward, and that really grabs the clumps from the soil and breaks them up.
It also means that we can till a 20ft x 30ft garden in about 45 minutes to an hour, instead of the 3-5 hours it used to take by shovel.
